November already?!

I cannot believe that it is almost November already! We've been very busy at LP working on different art projects and they are coming out AMAZING! It's definitely been a challenge creating art in our home classrooms and not in the art room, but the kids have been up to the challenge. All grades are finishing up their Display My Art fundraiser projects this week, and I will be sending them into the company to be scanned! Read below for grade level updates and information about Display My Art fundraiser, as well as our Digital Portfolio Platform, Artsonia.

3rd Grade

3rd graders have just finished up their Display My Art fundraiser projects: Pattern Spirit Animals. We decided on an animal we would be if we were an animal, and then learned how to draw it. We chose animals we share character traits with. Then we learned about PATTERNS, LINES and SHAPES. We learned that patterns are when lines and shapes repeat. We also learned how to tell the difference between a geometric shape, and an organic shape. Ask your 3rd grader what the difference is!

4th Grade

4th Graders are just finishing up their Display My Art fundraiser project, Graffiti/Street Art Lettering. We don't see each other as often in 4th grade right now, only once every six days, so this project has taken longer to complete. We talked about the difference between Graffiti and Vandalism and identified that it's only okay to create on someone's property if you have PERMISSION. They've learned how to take a regular old letter, turn it into a bubble letter, and then add different elements such as drips, arrows, flames, etc. to make the letters in graffiti style! They are doing such an amazing job and this is always a student favorite.

5th Grade

5th Graders are just finishing up their Display My Art fundraiser project, Graffiti/Street Art Lettering. We also learned how to create a GRADIENT with colored pencils. They learned how to blend two ANALOGOUS colors together. Analogous colors are 2-3 colors right next to each other on the color wheel. Ask you 5th grader about ANALOGOUS COLORS and GRADIENTS! They are doing such an amazing job and this is always a student favorite.

Artsonia App

Artsonia is a digital portfolio platform for students to track their artistic growth by uploading pictures of finished artwork. We will be uploading every finished project to Artsonia.

Parents are encouraged to take part in their children's artistic process by creating a parent account. Parents can also buy products with any artwork their child creates and uploads to Artsonia. The art room gets a portion of the sales back as fundraiser money for more supplies.

Papers with sign on codes for parents will be coming home next week. Please check the ARTSONIA tab on the top of the page for more information.

Display My Art Fundraiser

Instead of Square 1 Art this year we will be doing an identical fundraiser for the art program with the wonderful company "Display My Art". Children have created art in school and we will send their art to a company who prints it on different products. Keep an eye out for information coming home soon! Please check the tab above titled "Display My Art" for more information and timelines.
