Happy Holidays!

I can't believe it is our holiday break already! We have been very busy here in LP Art and we can't wait to share what we've made. I hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday break!

3rd Grade

3rd Graders had a fun clay month of December! This was many of their first time using clay! They learned clay is found where land and water meet. They also learned the three important clay techniques - pinch pot, coil and slip & score. They did very well, especially with the messy nature of clay.

4th Grade

4th graders are just finishing up their emoji project! They first drew their emojis on paper, and learned how to add VALUE in colored pencil. This makes their emojis look three dimensional. Then 4th graders learned how to use our new digital drawing app ProCreate to turn their emojis digital! They learned so much about this new app and I am so proud of their creative designs. I guarantee you've never seen any of these emojis before!

5th Grade

5th Grades designed and created food bowls out of clay! They learned what a MOLD is in art. A mold is a form we use to shape something else. Students also learned what a SLAB of clay is. A slab of clay is a thin piece of clay rolled out to cover a large area. Students rolled slabs and pressed them into the molds to make their bowls. We then talked about TEXTURE and REPETITION. Students added textures to their bowls and create a theme based on what they want to eat out of their bowls! I am hoping after break when we have the chance to glaze (add color to) them we will be able to have a snack day and actually eat out of our bowls!
