Another short week!

We've had a bunch of 4 day weeks this school year so far and they always go by so fast! I've been bad about posting this past month because when Friday comes around I can't believe I haven't taken any photos or I've run out of time to write my post! So here's a little update on what's been going on since the middle of October to now! We have a few new displays up in the main hallway so if you're around the school check those out!

3rd Grade:

Third graders have been working on their GESTURE drawings. They've learned to draw people and are now using the three PRIMARY colors to mix the colors they need. They are doing great with color mixing

4th Grade:

Fourth graders worked on a quick one day lesson inspired by performance artist Heather Hansen. She uses her body to create a symmetrical piece of artwork while people come to watch her create. Students loved using both hands at the same time to draw. Check out their pieces below!

Fourth graders have also started learning how to draw people, or GESTURE drawing, just like 3rd grade. Kids are always asking me how to draw people so I figured this is an important skill to work on in each grade level! Some classes showed enough self-control to model for their partner on the table so they could get a good view. They loved this special opportunity!

5th Grade:

Mrs. Antonelli's and Miss Wells' classes have finally completed their self-portraits! First we wrote Mantras that we want to repeat to ourselves during a difficult time. We chose something we want to get better at and came up with a short phrase to help us be more positive. Then we drew ourselves and mixed the PRIMARY colors to paint ourselves. I am so proud of their perseverance with this difficult project, you can really tell who each

one is!
