Wow! This week went by very fast and I didn't document very much of it! We are still working on following art room routines and are in the thick of some difficult projects! I am not posting many pictures this week because the only pictures I took I posted on our LP Instagram. Be sure to check us out and give us a follow @LPArtRoom! Link on the main page!

I will post the new display I hung up this week. The first two weeks of school 3rd and 4th grade worked on collaborative abstract paintings that finished with them coming up with juicy words to descrivb LP students. This is hung up in our music hall way, check it out!

3rd Grade: In 3rd grade we finally finished up our Square1 Art watercolor paintings and we started our sketchbooks! Sketchbooks are a great place for students to practice their drawings skills throughout the year when they finish a project early or just want to work on their skills. Students ALSO learned how to use the app ARTSONIA! Artsonia is an online platform for digital portfolios. My plan is to have students upload a picture of their finished work to Artsonia each time they are done with it. You may remember I attempted this last year but never kept up with it, so we are trying FRESH this year! More information about Artsonia will be coming home in the near future so you can see their portfolios from home and even purchase items with their artwork on it!

4th Grade: 4th graders have been setting up their weaving projects this week. This means painting a plate which will become our LOOM, and putting the WARP STRINGS on the loom, getting it ready to weave next week. We learned how to tie two strings together this week which was a challenge for many! We are working on it! Ask your 4th graders about weaving vocabulary!

5th Grade: 5th Graders continue to work on their Emoji design projects. They learned about the word VALUE and how all colors have different values depending on where the light is coming from. We learned that light is what creates value and without light everything is a DARK VALUE. We also learned that VALUE is what makes things look 3-Dimensional. Without value, everything looks flat. They practiced creating value in colored pencil and some students had time to start applying value to their emoji projects!
