A Whole Lot of New Things!

Each grade started something new in the art room this week, and a busy week it was!!

3rd Grade:

Third grade is starting their Sharing the Planet PYP Unit. In the art room this is our CLAY unit! They were very excited to say the least! Our first clay day we learned how to make a pinch pot, roll a coil and slip and score two pieces of clay together. This was our practice day. Next week we will be creating a project using all three techniques!

4th Grade:

This week 4th graders learned how to draw people in real life! No more stick figures here! We learned what GESTURE DRAWING is, and how we can use simple shapes to create not only people, but anything we want to draw. 4th graders were very responsible and modeled on the art room tables for their friends to draw them! They did a great job picking up the gesture drawing steps. Stay tuned next week to hear about how this translates into our new project for the Who We Are PYP Unit!

5th Grade:

5th graders learned about a unique mode of communication for our How We Express Ourselves PYP unit...EMOJIS! Students designed and illustrated their own emojis that express something about them! I am beyond thrilled with many of their design ideas, as they are creative thinkers!

New Display at LP!

I finally had the chance to hang up some artwork. Check out the 4th graders finished weaving projects in the main hallway!
